Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday vowed to support the process of strict accountability on the priority basis but said that it should not be based on political victimisation.
Reportedly, he addressed to the media in Garhi Khuda Bux after offering Eid prayers in Bhutto mausoleum, and laying floral wreaths on the graves of Bhutto leaders.
“However, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has serious reservations over inequitable process of accountability which is driven by political vendetta,” he said, adding that his party would raise voice against it in the National Assembly and on the party’s platform by formulating an effective strategy to ensure ‘fair process of accountability’.
He asserted that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also aimed to eradicate corruption, and took certain initiatives regarding it.
Furthermore, he stated that he had issued strict directives to the police officers for taking a stern action against street criminals and various mafias operating in the province.
He passed the orders in the very first meeting after assuming office at the CM House.
He said that in his speech on the floor of the house, he had stated that maintenance of law and order would be his top priority.
Moreover, he pledged to improve sanitation and cleanliness situation across the province, and revealed that funds had been allocated to the respective departments in this regard.
“Non-availability of funds will not be accepted as an excuse of pending or halting development work,” he said, adding that the provincial government of Sindh could have also blamed the federal government of withholding funds.
He maintained that even if the available resources were used wisely and effectively, a remarkable change could be observed.
Besides, Sindh Governor Agha Siraj Durrani, PPP leaders including Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and other administrative officers were also present on the occasion.
Later, he extended Eid greetings to the people of Sindh, and expressed his gratitude to them for supporting the PPP in the recent general elections.
