LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly and Larkana Division President Aijaz Jakhrani has confessed that the party could not get votes in 2013 election because of its failure to end load shedding.
Addressing a press conference at the residence of PPP Larkana District Information Secretary Mashooque Jatoi on Friday, the lawmaker said that the Nawaz League had also made a commitment to eliminate power outages within six months, but “it has also failed miserably”. He said that ‘No Nawaz No’ rally would be taken out from Larkana today (Saturday) against water shortage, power blackouts and gas load shedding in Sindh. He said that the rally would be led by PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro. He said that Nawaz Sharif had lost moral grounds to stay as prime minister after the Supreme Court verdict in Panama leak case.
He said that worst electricity load shedding of up to 20 hours was being carried out throughout Sindh in this scorching heat, which had created a lot of problems for the people. He said that gas load shedding was also being carried out despite the fact that gas was being produced in Sindh.
Jakhrani said that water was available in Punjab’s canals but Sindh had been deprived of this basic necessity, which “cannot be accepted”. He said that electricity production had reduced during Nawaz League’s government and shortfall had increased. He claimed that after 2018 election, the PPP would end the electricity crisis in the country. To a question, he said that a governor was federal government’s representative and he should not indulge himself in issuing political statements. He said that hundreds of activists from across Larkana would take part in today’s protest rally against the central government’s policies.
