KARACHI: The police on Monday submitted their report to the Supreme Court on the case of a six year old girl who was raped and then dumped into a drain.
The girl was kidnapped from near her house in Labour Colony in Korangi on January 19, raped and then thrown into a drain near Korangi Crossing with her throat slit and bruises all over her body. She was found alive however and was rushed to the hospital where she was able to survive after being operated upon. Her family had been searching for her but only got to know of her condition after seeing the news on TV.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered under the Anti Terrorism Act along with various other sections with seven people having been arrested in connection with the crime.
The police report informed that, “Blood samples have also been collected from the suspects for a DNA test,” adding that the girl was still traumatised.
“Her statement will be recorded as soon as the doctors permit,” it said.
Sub-inspector Uzma Hafeez has been deputed to provide security to the minor rape victim and assist in the investigation.
A medical examination of the girl at Civil Hospital confirmed that she had been “subjected to brutal sexual assault”.
