ISLAMABAD: The third death anniversary of renowned TV broadcaster of PTV Professor Laeeq Ahmed will be marked on Friday.
His contributions in the field of media, education, communication, family planning and science will be remembered.
Laeeq Ahmed’s contribution was to spread science in a simple way to the people of Pakistan.
His focus was science related topics along with others including the environment, global issues and current affairs and he had done over 500 programmes on such topics.
He bagged the awards as best commentator and best compere.
Particularly for his contribution in the field of education, he was honoured with “President’s Award for Pride of Performance” and the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2001.
In working with both national and international institutions from China, the US and Canada, his main focus was the improvement of education in Pakistan.
During that period, he organised and represented Pakistan in a number of national and international conferences, seminars and workshops on crucial topics like “Islam and Family Planning”.
He locally held lectures and conducted television programmes like `Masala No.1′ to raise awareness for the issue. His efforts were highly acknowledged by heads of states of many Muslim countries around the world.
Before joining the Ministry of Education, he introduced effective educational schemes for the benefit of people in renowned universities like the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Allama Iqbal Open University and establishments like the National Bank of Pakistan.
